Em Croteau
charcoal and graphite on linen

12 x 9 in. (76.2 x 50.8 cm)

Em Croteau’s oil paintings on canvas and works on linen embody timeless beauty. Inspired by the natural world, from ocean waves to mountainscapes, her work comes to life on canvas through vivid and authentic detail. Emily consistently practices a traditional technique influenced by masters including Peter Paul Rubens, Henri Rousseau and Joaquín Sorolla. The coexistence of masculinity and femininity is illustrated and woven throughout her collections. Emily merges contrasting visuals revealing how masculine and feminine styles can harmonically exist. Raised by the coast, Emily remains inspired by nature’s charm while finding new cosmopolitan influences as she creates in her Brooklyn, New York studio. Experiencing eclectic places through travel and her everyday surroundings, Emily experiments with diverse subjects creating work that is appreciated by many, now and for years to come.
