Noura Djuric is a Belgian painter of Serbian and Moroccan origin. She began painting in oils in her teens, first as a self-taught artist, then with an oil-master and various artists.
She subsequently worked in studios in Brussels, Paris, Venice and now Athens. From the impact of life experience on the body to the construction of identity and the complexity of love relationships, her pictorial practice explores the intimate. In a feminist and decolonial approach, she reappropriates symbols and signs that have permeated art history, blending them to create new representations of love.
Between figuration and symbolism, her canvases come to life through the emotion of an encounter or confidence. Whether it's a loved one or a stranger, the artist takes the same tender look at each person's experience. In her portraits and stagings, she freezes gestures, glances and body contact. The artist expresses the transience of sweet moments. By making flesh waltz, naked or in costume, Noura Djuric accumulates images of tenderness, and offers us a sensitive definition of it.
