About

Jarrod Frank (b.1993, Maryland) is a painter and sculptor based in Brooklyn, New York, whose work fuses figurative painting, dynamic texture, and an exploration of psychological depth. Working primarily in an impasto style, Jarrod creates vibrant, tactile pieces that merge bold color, thick layers of paint, and intuitive expression.

Through portraiture and scenes of otherness, each painting often begins with an idea or theme but transforms into a more organic exploration, as the artist embraces the unpredictability of the process. Jarrod is drawn to the potential of found objects and images, incorporating them into their work to spark new narratives. Their pieces are characterized by a sense of grit and texture, where color, shape, and texture are both the subjects and the medium through which the story unfolds.

Recent influences include the German Expressionists and folk art, which resonate with the artist’s interest in capturing a sense of truth and vulnerability—qualities that cannot be easily replicated. Having grown up in a Deaf family as a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA), Jarrod’s upbringing in the Deaf community has informed their worldview, bringing a unique perspective to their art. While not the central focus of their work, this experience has shaped how he perceives language, expression, and connection, adding layers of depth to their exploration of identity and personal narrative.
